In order to further facilitate steady growth of the energy industry, the India Energy Storage Alliance has announced the formation of its Leadership Council (LC). Individual representatives from Leadership member companies constitute the Leadership Council and aim to lead different IESA working groups and drive IESA towards its priorities with a focus on policy. They will take on a lead role to create a platform for Indian and foreign companies to exchange and collaborate technology development, trade negotiations and investments.
Presently, the council consists of five members representing five leading companies in this space. These leaders will work together on the overall policy and programme direction for India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), developing the Indian Energy storage industry beyond individual company business.
Mr. C. Robert Pedraza, Chief Strategy Officer, EnerBlu Open or Close
Robert Pedraza, EVP, Chief Strategy Officer has extensive experience in the introduction of advanced battery technologies and is responsible for EnerBlu’s overall strategy and India market expansion. Formerly, as Vice President & Executive Officer of Altairnano (NASDAQ) from 2005 to 2012, lead the Global Sales & Marketing Team which targeted the North & Central America, Europe, and China markets. Mr. Pedraza launched the effort to build the industry’s first econometric modeling tools for multi-MW “flash charge” LTO-based battery solutions in a frequency regulation application. Previously, Mr. Pedraza was the Founder of Tigre Trading, an institutional equity trading boutique providing trade execution services to long/short strategy hedge funds and raised the initial L.P. capital for two investment partnerships: Intrinsic Value Micro-Cap Activist Strategy, Multi-Factor Mean Reversion Global Statistical Arbitrage Strategy. Earlier in his career, he held senior sales management positions with Fidelity Institutional Investment Services, Alliance Capital, and Prudential-Bache Securities. He is a graduate of Lehigh University, BS Business & Economics, and was the recipient of the Leonard P. Pool Memorial Prize.

In his existing role, he is responsible for driving exponential growth through Product Innovations, Market Research and Create Application Vertical Pillars for Lithium Ion Batteries and leading the team to maximize Revenues. Mr. Shah is also responsible to build strong Local Engineering Team and Service Infrastructure to Create Sustainable Growth. He strongly believes that his Activity will help India to Overcome the Energy Deficiency and become a Progressive Nation and that would be the Biggest Contribution to Indian Society.
Previously, he has been associated with Panasonic since last 17 Years at various Positions and Multiple Products Exposure like Compressor, Motor, Electronic Components, Semiconductors, Sensors, Factory Automation and Display Devices. Additionally, he is responsible for managing the overall INDD growth strategy for Panasonic and leading the sales team to meet or exceed sales targets.
Mr. Shah holds an Industrial Electronics Degree with specialization in Power Electronics from Pune University. He has additionally done Internal and External Management Courses including Basic Japanese Language Course. He had been a Part of Panasonic Business Leadership Development Program, India Representative for South East Asia Automotive Business Development Committee, Panasonic Global Advisory Committee, and One South Asia Business Leadership Program.
Mr. Manish Kumar - AES Open or Close
Mr. Manish Kumar, MD, represents AES Energy Storage. AES started as one of the first independent power producers in the United States and is now a major supplier of power in 18 countries around the world. They have recently entered into an agreement with Panasonic to install a battery-based energy storage project of 10 MW at Jhajjar, Haryana. In 2017, AES and Mitsubishi Corp have partnered to supply a 10 MW Advancion energy storage bank to help integrate renewables such as solar into a grid network operated by Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) in New Delhi.
Dr. Rahul Walawalkar - CES Open or Close
Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President and MD, Customized Energy Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. and Executive Director, IESA, leads the IESA leadership council. Rahul is leading the Emerging Technologies practice for Customized Energy Solutions globally with a focus on energy storage, renewables, demand response and smart grid technologies. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Energy Storage Association (ESA) in USA during 2009-15 and was elected as Secretary in 2013. He was elected as Vice Chair for Global Energy Storage Alliance (GESA) in 2014. In May 2014, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) nominated him on the standing committee for energy storage and hybrids. Institution of Engineering (India), Pune Chapter awarded him the prestigious “DSK Energy Award” for contributions in the field of renewable energy in 2015.
Dr. Sudhakar Potukuchi - Eaton Open or Close
Dr. Sudhakar Potukuchi is VP-Technology at Eaton and head of Eaton India Engineering Center. Eaton India Engineering Center (EIEC) is the largest integrated, multidisciplinary research, development, and engineering center in Eaton. In his current role, Dr. Potukuchi is responsible for fostering a culture of innovation at EIEC and to lead the teams for Eaton’s global growth by providing engineering solutions using pertinent technologies, developing new technologies and products and supporting existing products. Prior to this, he was head of Aerospace and Hydraulics groups at EIEC and a founding member of India Innovation Center. Prior to joining Eaton, Dr. Potukuchi has held various positions at General Electric. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, U.S. Dr. Potukuchi completed a post-graduate executive MBA in management from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad in 2012.
