IESA Webinar on Rural & Campus Micro-grids in India & its business case on 21st August 2018

India's microgrid market is at an interesting stage with urban microgrid market kick starting with economical solar PV and storage. On energy access front, the government is focusing more on grid extension and stand-alone household solar PV systems than microgrids to connect around 24 million households to electricity. Uncertain returns on investment in off-grid microgrid sector and issues with battery O&M and sizing has still made us believe that off-grid microgrids are yet to arrive technically. However, this year a lot of progress has taken place in C&I (commercial and industrial) segment with many companies like Delta, Eaton and others making case for their microgrid controllers for island military, Microgrids and solar PV powered grid connected mainland Microgrids. These systems are demonstrating energy savings and back-up power application.

IESA is taking on the challenges of battery management and maintenance with its monitoring of 30 plus rural microgrids. This data is used by at CES solar and battery laboratory to improve O&M of lead acid batteries at these microgrids. In this webinar, IESA team will present its study of battery performance and sizing in these selected microgrids. IESA will also share their efforts on battery O&M manual along with CLEAN (Clean Energy Access Network). Also during this webinar, we will hear from the companies in this sector about their microgrid projects or case studies.
