About the 1st webinar:
Thermal energy storage is increasingly complemented with existing Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in industrial and commercial spaces. The principle behind thermal energy storage is storing thermal energy by heating or cooling a thermal storage medium and tapped on later for heating and cooling.
The key technology that is currently driving the thermal energy storage is the Phase Change Material (PCM) which ranges from water to a range of polymers.
The key driver for adoption of this technology is
- Need to shift electricity consumption between peak and off-peak time slots which is crucial to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) clients for power consumption.
- Lower CO2 emissions
- Improve efficiency
- Maintain temperature in critical conditions
Key Applications includes HVAC Applications, Cold Storage facilities, Refrigeration for critical applications, transportation logistics. But new companies are working on various emerging applications like temperature control of advanced battery, medical appliances etc.
HVAC applications in commercial space account for nearly 30-35% of energy consumption in commercial space and is expected to increase in the near future. Thermal Energy Storage for HVAC has a significant potential for commercial spaces to optimize HVAC operations. Incentives for peak load management are required for future.
